InstaFriday: #7

I'm linking up with Courtney at Joyful Joyful and Kristin from Buttons and Pockets, who link up with Jeannett atLife Rearranged for my 7th InstaFriday.

I missed last week, sorry all! I just wasn't feeling great, so I'll combine last week and this week. All it all it was a good two weeks and pretty busy!

Below are my old nanny kids. I love them all dearly still. This was take back in... 2007 I believe. Possibly 2006. They are now much bigger! The youngest, on my lap was one of our flower girls.

Hey, Threshold bookcase!

Frozen daiquiri in a margarita class for the win!

Pre-wedding Sunday evening.

And a picture from a bit later that evening. Love this boy!

Have you ever tried La Croix sparkling water? I love it. If you go get some though, know that it isn't sweet at all! They have a ton of different flavors including coconut!

I didn't do too much picture taking the past two weeks. At least not on Instagram! Hopefully I do a bit more this week!

Do you have any weekend plans?

Thrifty Thursday: Threshold

Furniture and decor can be expensive. REALLY expensive. Especially on a budget. That's why I love Target's new Threshold line. With no furniture over $449.99 it's really an affordable option. Especially when you compare it to my love for Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn items! Check out some of the items:

LOVE this! We have the vase on the middle row very right.

This headboard is gorgeous!

Does this make you as giddy as it does me? I've noticed since Threshold has come out, I've gotten a few of their items:

And most recently, this Threshold 5 Shelf Bookcase:

I put it together last Monday night, and I must say that I like it even more in person. Especially since it's housing my grandparent's china and our new liquor collection:

We're even throwing around the idea of this table set for our breakfast area!

Have you checked out the Threshold line at Target yet?

What I Wore Wednesday: #3

Memorial Day weekend came and went, but memories are forever... and pictures too. Memories and pictures are forever. Sunday we went to my cousin's wedding in Cypress, Texas. It was a beautiful ceremony and the reception was gorgeous! One of my personal favorite moments of the night though happened before the wedding - while we were waiting for the shuttle. A sweet girlfriend of one of the groomsmen told me I was really pretty and that I had perfect skin. Bless her sweet, little heart. She will be a friend forever now.

Here are the only "before the wedding shots" I have - I might have forgotten my camera back at the hotel. Whoops!

Don't mind the open toilet - we're working on that.

The after pictures aren't so great - my photographer may have had a bit too much to drink. I did snap one though. My hair held up pretty well!

All in all it was a great weekend. In addition to the wedding, we... didn't really do anything. I don't think. At least we can't remember that we did anything. Huh.

Did you do anything fun last weekend?

Weekend Projects: Guest Bathroom

Sorry for the break last week, I came down with some type of sinus something or other and it took me out for a few days. But, I feel better so all is well.

Today I wanted to talk about a weekend project that doesn't have to break the bank or take too much time (well, it took me a good portion of the weekend, but that's because I was doing it myself.)

For those of you who don't know, our house was beige. Beige everywhere. Floors, ceilings, walls, everything. We've done a lot downstairs, but as of yet haven't touched upstairs much. Back in Mapril (March or April, I can't remember) I tackled painting the upstairs bathroom. Here are some before pictures for you:

Broken shower clip...

iPad for some jams!

Oh hey, Ashley in the window!

Kind of... blah. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't fantastic. I was searching Pinterest one day and BAM. I saw this photo:

It totally has the same shape of my bathroom. I already love the color mint, and this made me more excited to paint the bathroom. I found this blog post with the color Beryl by Martha Stewart and fell in love. I grabbed more Ceiling White by Behr for the ceiling and went to town on the bathroom.

We have a long way to go, but we did get a new lighting fixture up! Hooray!

Right now I'm about 10% complete with this bathroom as my list of things to do to this bathroom  still include:

Painting the cabinets white
Towel Rack
Decor
Bath mat
New faucet

I'm excited because I think mint is such a versatile color to work with. Some color combinations I'm imagining in here are mint + navy, mint + emerald, mint + grey, mint + coral, mint + rose... the list can go on and on!

Have you done any weekend projects that involve transforming a room lately?

What I Wore Wednesday: #2

I wore this outfit last week. I like color, what can I say?

Shirt: Anthropologie (old), Skirt: J.C. Penny, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Anthropologie (old)

Also, Astro can't leave us alone if we're taking pictures.

No, seriously.

Yep. Pretty much every picture.

Coconut Oil - Heard of it?

Coconut Oil is magic. If you haven't heard that by now, then shame on you. Here's a list of things I use it for (or that it can be used for). Even Dr. Oz loves it.

3. Cooking (obviously)

5. Under eye moisturizer

7. Dry skin (especially feet!)

10. Health benefits (eat it by itself!)

Nutiva is a great brand of coconut oil. If you have questions, ask me or search the web!

Are you on the coconut oil bandwagon?

Manicure Monday: Glitter

I've always loved glitter nail polish. It just adds that sparkle that a girl like me craves. I used to have my nails done at all times back when people would stare at my hands all day (and I didn't have a puppy), but have now since fallen out of the habit of doing them on Sunday evenings. One day I will start again (soon, hopefully!), especially since Astro has gotten slightly older.*

When I was thinking about what to post this week, I had the sudden urge to have glitter nails. Here are some of my favorites from around the inter-webs.

1. Glitter Tips: I really like the grey with the bright colors. It could be because the grey is like my walls and the glitter is like the pops of color I have around, but really... I like it!

2. The Glittering Crowd: Glitter over black nail polish is one of my favorites. It reminds me of fireworks which doesn't hurt, but mainly it's a way to make black polish look girly, not gothy. Also, Lynnderella has some awesome glitter polishes!

 3. Naked Sparkle: Nude and gold has always been a favorite of mine and I've sported it at all different places. I love it because the nude is classic and is subtle, while the gold gives it an extra pop. Great for work or fun, it always looks classy!

4. Gold Rush: Kind of like the one above, but not. Same colors, different design. I love having just the tips a color.

5. One Glitter Nail: Do this one. With any color combination. How about mint. Mint with anything. Mint & coral, mint & emerald, mint & navy, mint & turquoise, mint & light pink, mint & grey... I'm pretty sure mint goes with anything. I love mint.

Do you love glitter as much as I do? How do you use it on your nails?

InstaFriday: #6

I'm linking up with Courtney at Joyful Joyful and Kristin from Buttons and Pockets, who link up with Jeannett atLife Rearranged for my 6th InstaFriday.

I did quite a bit this week - it was a good week! Saturday we said bye to our friends who moved to Tennessee. I've known baby O since he was 6 days old. I will miss this kid!

Saturday afternoon we bought the first liquor we've ever bought together. Seriously. We've always gotten beer and wine. Matt got bourbon and I got some tequila. If you haven't mixed tequila with Pom and simple sugar, you're missing out!

Sunday morning we went on a hike at Walnut Creek with Joe (who is getting married tomorrow!) and Izzy. Kim was already in Miami so she didn't get to come, but we all still had fu!

There were tons of wildflowers (and cacti) at Walnut Creek. Astro loved running through them - he did not love having us pull cactus spikes out of him though.

Sunday evening Matt made dinner for us. Carnitas, sourdough bread and guacamole. Best husband ever.

Tuesday I wore this outfit. My sister said it's a Myspace angle. I just say I was trying to show my entire outfit - and my random shoe in the background.

Oh my gosh these next two photos. So my new great friend is a foster for San Antonio Pets Alive (for those of you who don't know, Matt and I got Astro from Austin Pets Alive) and she has 4 puppies. Little baby gopher puppies! So I've been trying to help her out with feedings and moral support!

This is Hank. I love him.

Alicia had peonies at her house. I took a picture.

That was it for my week. Did you do anything fun? Any weekend plans?
