Crown on the Ground

Top: Gap, Skirt: Gap, Necklace: Anthropologie, Shoes: Kelly and Katie

Anyone heard of Sleigh Bells? I love them. Dres introduced them to me. Look them up and tell me how amazing they are.

I took pictures inside. I hate taking pictures inside, but when it's dark outside there isn't really an alternative. Anyway, welcome to our hallway! I know it's thrilling and exciting for all of you. I mean, how can you not love such a perfect hallway?! After work yesterday, Matt and I went to the gym, then used $25 in high five cards (free $5) at Rudy's and pigged out on chicken, ribs, brisket, beans and corn. Yum. Following that we went to a homegroup and didn't get home until after 10:30pm, so pictures inside it was.

Today, I went up and got to PiYo. Um, let me tell you... it burned and it burned deep. I did squats and stiff legged dead lifts yesterday, so my legs are hurting right now. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

This outfit... I like it. I bought the shirt at Gap a few weeks ago and the skirt I got at Gap maybe 2 years ago. I think they look cute together. Again with these shoes. I know. But I LOVE them. So comfortable. I even want another pair of them. Maybe white. Or dark brown. Or any color really. Anyone want to donate to my shoe fund? No? Well then. You all are lame. You are really lame, for real. Just kidding. I wasn't for real.

Neutrality

Top: Anthropologie, Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Katie and Kelly, Watch: Fossil, Blazer: Macy's

Today is depressing. It's cold and cloudy outside and both Matt and I have have to work tonight. Boo. However, we are (mostly) settled into the new apartment. I say mostly because I'm sitting here in a pile of clean clothing and have no where to put them. I'll have to figure that one out later.

Over three years ago in early 2008, I had just started dating a guy and he gave me a gift card to Anthropologie for Valentine's day. This shirt is what I bought with it. Fast forward three years and some change and I am now married to that guy, blogging while he cleans the kitchen. Not too shabby, eh? I got a compliment on my outfit AND hair today, so in that sense I'm pretty sure my day was successful. I wonder if I'll get any compliments on my work uniform later. Maybe from the creepy 80 year old man who orders the chicken and complains about it every time but always tells me I have a great smile or asks if I've always been this pretty. Here's hoping.

And, to top today's post here I am in all my angry, cold glory. Thank you for capturing this moment, husband:

My, Oh My

Ohmygosh, you guys, Ashley here. I've been gone what feels like forever. But now I'm back, with a new apartment and faster internet. Hooray!

The past few days have been crazy. Let's have a look, shall we?

Monday: Wake up at 5am for work. Work 6am-3pm. Go home, pack and proceed to move EVERYTHING to the garage with the help of Bailey. Talk to Matt when he got home. Go to sleep way too late.

Tuesday: Wake up at 5am for work. Work 6am-3pm. Immediately go home, pack up three cars and drive to apartment to sign lease. Move stuff in. Make 4 more trips back to old house. Take Bailey and friend to Freebirds for helping. Go to new apartment, begin unpacking and go to sleep at 2am.

Wednesday: Work 10am-9pm. Go to new home and unpack more. Go to sleep at 2am.

Thursday: Build shelves, etc., go talk to property manager about everything wrong in the apartment (and there is/was a lot), go to Wal-Mart, go to Ikea, go home and build chairs. Eat. Take out all of the dishes, etc. that we put away the night before so pest control can come spray.

Friday: Wake up and go move all hanging clothes from old house, try to organize closet/room. Have property manager and maintenance walk through apartment to go over what is wrong. Have maintenance in the house for hours. Clean out bathroom for pest control guy. Sprayed. Open all windows so it can air out. Wait for Time Warner guy and maintenance to finish up...

And today isn't even done. I'm waiting for Matt to get home, then we have to go to Home Depot and Wal-Mart (again) and then come build shelves and hang some things. Not to mention put away all of our kitchen and bathroom stuff that we had to take out. Why did we have to have pest control come you ask? Oh, possibly because of the German Cockroaches we've seen around the apartment since we got her. Awesome.

Sorry about my ranting. I have to start getting some more done, but I couldn't leave you without a sneak peek of one of my crafts:

Books: College, Zinc Letter: Anthropologie, Milkglass: Etsy, Candle: Wal-Mart

See you soon!

Blocks of Color

Top: Gap, Pants: Gap, Belt: J. Crew, Shoes: Kelly & Katie via DSW

I don't have much to say today because there is a lot on my mind and I can't begin to process it right now, we we'll talk about my outfit. Color blocking. I like it. Two to three solid colors together look nice. Today, I did it for church. I tend to gravitate towards blue colors because it makes my eyes stand out a bit more. I bought this shirt at Gap on the cheap... the pants too. $12 pants? Sold!

Also, we took pictures in a house being built next to ours. Just in the garage though. Is that trespassing? I'm sure it is, so I hope the neighbors don't mind. It's not like I was going in there to steal their floor plan or copper piping or take a shower or anything...

Plaid is Rad

Too bright (and I have a pet friend in this picture):

Shirt: Gap (men's), Shorts: Target, Necklace: Present, Watch: Fossil, Wedges: Kelly & Katie

I'm back! After two days, I finally was able to put on real clothing. I worked 11 hours yesterday, and quite a few the day before and my clothing for both days went like this: pajamas, work uniform, pajamas. Today was a nice change.

It's a gorgeous day today. I was glad I was able to run around and get some things done since we only have until Thursday before we move! Hip, hip hooray! Yesterday morning we were able to go see our apartment which made us that much more excited. If I'm a little absent this week, you know it's because I'm trying to last minute pack, move, and get the apartment together. What that DOES mean though is that I get to post some DIY crafts and take pictures of the apartment. Very exciting.

My outfit today. Well, this is a guy's shirt I bought at Gap and I love it. I can't wait to style it other ways. And my shoes! I hope you like them because I just bought them and they are super comfortable. That means I will be wearing them often. Finally a pair of wedges I love. Life is good.

Hope everyone enjoys their day and that they are as lovely (though less windy) than it is here. Make sure to look at the moon tonight since it will be the biggest it has been in 18 years. I'm off to take a nap (shhh, don't tell anyone!)

Proof it was windy:

Luck O' the Irish

Shirt: Gap, Cardigan: Nordstrom(?), Jeans: Gap, Shoes: Macy's

Obviously, it's not really St. Patrick's Day, but due to the fact that I probably (99% sure) won't be getting dressed tomorrow because of work, I decided that today was in fact St. Patty's Day. What this consisted of was me telling everyone I saw "Happy St. Patrick's Day," and commenting on them not wearing green. I was also pinching them (since, you know, it's what you do on St. Patrick's Day), but there was an incident where some old guy tried to kick me in the shin, so I stopped pinching people after that.

I got this shirt at Gap on super sale. I think it was something like, $7. Score. The cardigan I got... somewhere. Maybe Nordstrom, but I've had it for so long I can't remember. Also... I couldn't see outside, that's why I have the sunglasses on. I'm not nursing a hangover, that will be tomorrow. Juuuust kidding, mom!

I realized today that I really need wedges. Comfortable ones that aren't too tall and won't break the bank. I've been looking online at DSW, but I probably just need to go in somewhere and look. Anyone ideas?

Winter 30 for 30 Recap

My winter 30 for 30 recap. My, oh my. It felt like for-e-ver in the middle of it, but now looking back after a few days, it didn't seem that long. I should have included my work uniform in the mix though because I would have gotten done SO much sooner.

Um, please ignore how the last row is off. I'm silly and didn't look to see what size I changed the first part to on my editor and it wouldn't let me add one more row... so it's off. Oopsie Daisy.

Here are my 30 pieces in all of their glory:

It feels great to be done with this though. IF I do another 30 for 30, I need to make sure I choose my pieces carefully. Very carefully!

I hope you other 30 for 30 bloggers had success with your challenge!

Imagination vs. Reality

Sometimes I don't get dressed. I go to work (in uniform) come home and never quite make it into real clothes. Right now there are relatives here so I'm half visiting, half packing... but I'm secretly dreaming of Matt and I being downtown at SXSW walking around and taking in the sights. In my mind, I'm wearing the following gorgeous outfit, all found on Anthropologie:

Nevermind that I can't afford any of the articles in the picture (a $200 cuff anyone?), but I love them. It's a perfect Ashley outfit.

Instead, I'm a little (okay, a lot) less Anthropologie and a little more... hobo-ish:

Alright, I WISH I looked that good right now. Imagine pink striped pajama pants, a dark purple tee and non supermodel hair. More dirty, messy bun hair. Example:

There you have it. Yes, I know... there is only one word to describe me right now. Winning.

Nathan Russell Photography Photo Booth

It's me... again. Just saw that Nathan Russell posted some pictures from last night on Twitter and I thought they were too funny not to share. Enjoy!

TxSCC Party at Bo Concept

Hey all, it's Ashley. I mentioned earlier that I went to a Texas Style Council event last night. Professional photos won't be up for a few days, but I wanted to give you a glimpse of what Bailey and I did... which actually wasn't too much. Tonight we were going to attend the Fashion Show, but the 45 minute drive downtown, the $10+ for parking, the walking, the crowds, the... well, you get it. I just wasn't up for it. Plus, I was about to have to begin going commando if I didn't put at least one load of laundry in the washer. And trust me, NOBODY wants that to have to happen.

Back to last night. TxSCC was holding a dance party (though there was no dancing, it was more of a "meet some boutiques, interact with some bloggers, play games, drink free alcohol and get some swag") and I took full advantage of that. Three pomades for Matt, anyone? 4 free lipglosses? Oh... just I did that? Whoops.

Before we go any further, I'd like to introduce you to Mallary. In the past week I've mentioned her a time or two. Here is a face to the name:

Bailey, Mallary, Me

Mallary and her husband Alvin own The Unique Closet, an online clothing boutique that offers FREE SHIPPING every time! The Unique Closet was a sponsor of TSCC, and so they were able to have a booth at the party. Bailey and I went with Mallary to help her promote TUC (I like acronyms) and meet other bloggers. Here is a glimpse of what we did last night (though I'm a terrible blogger and wasn't snapping photos all throughout the night. Whoops!)

See the baby in the background of the next picture? I held that baby. And it made me want one. Sorry, Matt.

Bailey got a TON of comments on her shoes!

Mallary is wearing the Blue Eyed Flowers Dress

It was a great event with a ton of bloggers there. I was able to meet Kendi of Kendi Everyday Indiana from Adored Austin, Jessie from The Concrete Catwalk, Laurel from Trophy Boutique, Penney from Maybe This Door, Katy from Kansas Couture, and many more. Thanks for the laughs and good conversations, ladies! Minus the old, crazy, drunk guy who cornered Bai and I for 10+ minutes, I would say the event was a success!

Free At Last

Sweater: Gap, Skirt: Old Navy, Boots: Zigi Soho, Scarf: Gap, Bracelet: Lulu's (won at TSCC), Belt: J. Crew

Done. Finished. Fin. Completed. The end. It is over. Winter 2011 30 for 30, I am done with you forever. I'm not quite going out with a bang with this outfit, but I'm going out nonetheless. I had to get this out of the way to make room for more fun things such as the Texas Style Council Conference.

This outfit wasn't very inspired. In fact, it was very uninspired. I just wanted to get the 30 for 30 over with. I... win and fail at the same time for this one. Such is life. Husband is wanting me to take a nap with him since Mr. Daylight Savings Time ruined our sleep last night, so I think I'm off to do that. I will try to upload pictures of some TSCC things a little later, but that depends on if I decide to go to the grand finale of the conference tonight. Oh la la!

The Wind Will Blow

Top: Gap, Skirt: Anthropologie, Boots: Zigi Soho, Necklace: Anthropologie, Watch: Fossil

It was windy when these pictures were taken if you can't tell. Beautiful outside, but windy. So windy I didn't even put on lipstick and lipgloss because I didn't feel like having it stick to my lips the entire day. It was a good day though. Matt and I went to GAP, went to et at Waterloo Icehouse, got a little fro-yo, went to HEB and now he's at work and I'm getting ready to head on over to the Texas Style Council with Mallary from The Unique Closet. While my heart is joyful in that sense, it breaks for the people of Japan and for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. I will continue praying for strength, hope and comfort for those related to the event in some way.

I like this outfit and someone besides Matt told me I was "really pretty" today, so I think it might be a keeper. I love this skirt to pieces, but I need to go get it altered because it's too big and sits too low on my waist. Someday I will do that. Maybe I'll learn to sew and do it myself. Maybe. By the way... one more outfit to go. HOORAY! Best thing ever. The rest of my closet looks lonely.

My awkward face but funny photo for the day:
